Quick Update

I feel like I need to offer at least a brief update of what's going on here! This week, as I already said, is crazy simply because of the convergence of deadlines. Monday was the deadline for a 2,500 word history essay, Tuesday was the deadline for another in a 2,500 word essay, Friday is the deadline for a 2,000 word essay, and next Monday is the deadline for a 3,000 word essay. Katie arrives on Saturday morning, however, so I'm pretended the 3,000 word essay is also due Friday. That makes a total of 10,000 words for one week! Progress report is that the two history papers are handed in, and I also just handed in the 2,000 word geography paper due Friday (two days early!). Just one more to go.........

I've been trying not to be too wrapped up in the work though. On Saturday night I went with my friend Leah to see the film Watchmen in Staines. I thought it was actually a really good movie, though I know it is not to everyone's tastes (my mother's in particular). If my father had come he wouldn't have known whether the movie was good or bad; he would have walked out sometime during the 20 minutes of commercials that they showed before the trailers. If you think the advent of pre-movie commercials is bad in the US, you should come here!

Sunday night we also made our "weekly" trip to the pub trivia night at the Crown. I'm pretty sure we've missed more weeks than we've gone though! The showing among other teams wasn't exceptional, so there were only four teams, and one was just a single, really intoxicated man. We came in third (guess who we beat?). We were only three questions behind the second place team though, out of 60 total, so we're still holding out hope that we might actually win something someday. Ironically the second place prize is a pitcher of Fosters, which only appeals to a select few members of our group, and we have actually been given the pitcher by the second place teams on both occasions that we have played at the Crown. So there isn't much motivation to get better, unless we can win the money from first place!

Tonight is juggling, but I believe they are spending a majority of the time doing another show somewhere. I opted out of this one because I didn't know how desperate my essay situation was going to be when they were looking for commitments. Turns out I probably could have done it, but now I'll have more time to spend working on that last essay and possibly booking more of my trip through Europe, which is rapidly approaching.

Here's a random picture, just because I like pictures:
